Adv/Spec Proj. Idea drawings and clay review

Both drawings are due today before you work in clay.  25pts each.

Basic clay working reminders:

1.  Table set up
      A. Matt
      B.  water cup
      C.  Slip cup
      D.  Required tools
      E.  clay ( close lid on clay bin)
      F.  Plastic to wrap clay in
      G.  Wood board to use for clay board

2.  Clean up
      A.  Wipe down Matt if wet clay is on it or shake in garbage can
      B.  put tools in correct area
      C.  Cups away
      D.  Wipe table with wet towel
      E.  Slowly sweep area so no dust kicks up

Line/Value Sketchbook Cover

Objectives:

1. create an original design with the letter “P” (period and their period number...
transform these elements into a drawing or image that is not just a P and a number

 2. create different values using all “5” line styles and thick to thin and dotted
at least 8 different values

 3. keep drawing free from smudges and incomplete eraser marks

Line work example

Line: a mark made by an object between 2 points
Value: the darkness or lightness of an object or color

The rectangles were to go from dark to light in value. Each value was created by line use only.

Adv/Spec Proj: 1st assignment 8/16

 Draw a 6"x 9" rectangle
draw a cartoon bust of yourself
include details important to help describe who it is (glasses, hair style...)
Inside 6" x 9" rectangle add your name
color with colored pencils only including background

What is your power animal? (6" x 9")

Draw yourself (bust only) wearing an animal costume
choose an animal that you really feel describes a part of you
costume must have clear details of the animal, zipper or fastener, and may not cover your face
draw background and color all with colored pencils

Sculp 1-2: Line/value and endless solutions

Line: the most basic of the 7 elements of art. Line is the mark between two points. The variation and quantity of line an artist uses helps define their work and create a wide array of effects.

Value: the lightness and darkness of a color. Being creative with value helps bring focus, contrast, and depth to a piece of art.

Sculp 1-2 students will practice using line and value as they begin to build their sketch books...
